Diesel Generator Installation - Essex

Excel Power Ltd have been building an air / oil cooled 32kVA generator for installation in Essex. This unit is for continous power rather than standby duty due to its remote location.

The unit incorporates a 1000 litre oil make-up tank with automatic sump refill valve (REN), internal fusable link fire wire system and a Deepsea 8610 control module with remote monitoring and control.

The Deutz air / oil cooled engine was chosen due to the longer service intervals required - it means we will only be on site for service once every 6 weeks rather than every 3 weeks!

Don't forget that UPS systems need regular maintenance and servicing - I was reminded of that fact when I was asked to look at a central London UPS Installation this week.

The cells on a 60kVA UPS installation had overheated and had swollen; this had set off the building alarms and the site was evacuated.

A potential dangerous situation had been averted so no permanent harm done but this can be prevented by regular maintenance program. It may have also been possible to replace individual cells rather than facing a large bill for a complete replacement system.

60kVA Riello UPS installation at Somerset House

Excel Power Ltd have installed a 60kVA Riello UPS with 30 minutes of batteries at the world famous Somerset House in London.

It was good installation with a separate 125A 3 phase maintenance bypass switch.
